E-learning refers to the method of getting tutored outside the classroom via the internet. In the process of e-learning, students and teachers interact with each other by means of chat, the white board application, email etc. It is user friendly.

Is e-learning more effective than traditional training?
Yes. As the user can choose the preferred pace of learning and request special attention in his/her problem topic, e-learning becomes more personalized and student-friendly, compared to traditional classroom learning.

Do I need to purchase text books for the e-learning courses?
No, you will use the same books that you use for your school curriculum

For what grade levels are the tutoring available at Learning Scholars?
At present we offer tutoring for Elementary, Middle and High School students. We also offer special preparation courses for SAT, ACT, SSAT, PSAT and ISEE.

What does this service cost?
Learning Scholars has a tiered pricing system to enable you to choose the tutoring program suitable to you. Our tutoring Programs range from $13.69 per session to $24.75 per session. Our goal is to make learning interactive, fun and foster a safe and fruitful learning environment. In case you decide to take a break, or decide not to continue your tutoring with us, there won't be a penalty while ending our service.

What about Internet Security Issues?
Learning Scholars security infrastructure is highly secure and we assure all the participants privacy and absolute security. All our tutors are rigorously screened and a thorough background check is done before we engage their services. All communications are monitored on a regular basis to maintain the utmost in ethical and professional conduct. Please visit our privacy policy and security pages for more information.

How many hours of tutoring are recommended per month?
At Learning Scholars we recommend at least two hours of live, one-on-one tutoring per week. This is exclusive of hours spent on homework and testing. The Academic Director may however increase the number of tutoring hours depending on the student’s ability and proficiency in the subject.

What is a self paced course?
Self-paced course is one where the pace of the course is determined by your ability to absorb and progress.

Who are your e-tutors?
Our tutors are highly experienced and qualified teachers who are usually post graduate degree holders in their subjects of expertise and with an additional degree in education. Before being enrolled as tutors with Learning Scholars, they undergo a stringent training program which makes them proficient in dealing with students of varied interests and IQ levels. They help bring out the best in you.

What is an instructor-led course?
Just like a traditional course, your online course has an instructor who develops curriculum, conducts classes, gives the assignments, answers questions and assigns grades.

What is an instructor facilitated course?
Learn at your own pace, with the guidance of a course guide. Course videos and textbooks are delivered directly to you. Online discussions allow you to share ideas with other enrolled students. Evaluator’s feedback on your assignments is produced.

How is the child’s progress measured at Learning Scholars?
Based on the results of the initial diagnostic test, the instructor prepares a status report on the child. They project the skills of the student in the subject tested. The subsequent test results are compared with this, to measure the child’s progress. This is graphically represented to enable the child, parent and tutor to gauge the child’s improvement.

What is the Learning Scholars Knowledge Management System?
The Knowledge Management System enables the free flow of information between the parents of enrolled students and Learning Scholars. Each student will be given a username and password, for logging onto this Knowledge Management System. Relevant information such as schedules for tutoring sessions, student progress reports, parent and tutor feedback forms and general guidelines will be posted on this Knowledge Management System.

Will I need to buy and learn to use complicated software?
We provide all the software you need, FREE OF COST! In addition, you will be given a free online orientation in advance, to make sure that you are familiar with the process when your class begins.

Who will help me if I run into a technical problem?
Every course has its own course manager, who would be your primary contact for questions or problems that involve the mechanics related to the virtual classroom functioning. Our extensive online resources will quickly resolve most situations that come up, but, if you need additional help, your course manager is always close at hand, 24*7.

What is a shared electronic whiteboard?
A white board is a rectangular area on a computer screen, where multiple users can write or draw on using a digital pen. The digital writing pad – a tablet with the size of a mouse pad, and a digital pencil – a mouse which looks like a pen, are used to simulate the experience of writing with a pencil. Whiteboards are a principal element of e-learning, because, they enable visual as well as audio communication. In a whiteboard application, each participant can add text, make drawings, or paste pictures. Other participants can immediately see the results on their workstation. Each participant can make a local printout or save the contents of the whiteboard to a disk file for later reference.

What is Scholar’s KIT?

The Scholar's Kit is a collection of software and hardware required to facilitate the e-tutoring process. It consists of a high quality headset with speakers and microphone and a digital pen-mouse. It also includes the software required to run the e-tutoring process.
